Pride & Prejudice: Caroline Bingley

Tasked with making regency dress for a theoretical netflix production of Jane Austen’s much beloved novel Pride & Prejudice, I made a pale peach silk dupion dress for Caroline Bingley. Caroline Bingley is the haughty sister to Mr. Bingley, who eventually marries Jane the protagonists sister. The regency era is technically only 9 years spanning 1811-1820 but from a costume perspective its more generally from 1795-1830. I did not recreate a historical garment, but rather took design elements from dresses from the costume period. There was a uni class trip to the Bath Fashion Museum Archive, I thought considering the Bath’s historical relevance to the regency era it would be fun to take photos of the dress there.
