Millinery

This project was made during a university module. We were asked to pick theme, and choose hats from that theme to recreate. This module was more about learning technique and method. After watching Notting Hill (1999) and laughing at Hugh Grants character pretending to be a journalist from Horse & Hound, I decided on “Horse & Hat” as my theme. I looked at hats surrounding the equestrian world. I also chose a colour theme of royal blue and old gold for cohesiveness. We were requested that we have at least: one hat with a buckram base, one sinamay hat, one felt (velour) hat, and one flat-pattern hat. So I made: a royal blue dressage top hat with a buckram base, royal blue ten-gallon (velour) cowboy hat, an ascot hat with a royal blue sinamay base with a sin may gold bow with a basket weave, and then finally I attempted a striped silk jockey hat in bothe royal blue and old gold.
