Pillars of Creation
I worked as the Costume designer for this Student Short film, production consisted of a team of seven including myself so there was fair bit of inter-departmental collaboration. I joined in on the project a little bit later than the rest, so the art direction had already been discussed, along with the goal to be as sustainable as possible. For the commander character, we wanted military influence, so I sourced tactical trousers, style epaulets and kept to neutral earthy tones. the earthy tones also made the costume blend nicely with the set. The sustainability goal was achieved through purchasing secondhand clothing, then embellishing with the spacecraft logo, which I design in consultation with the rest of the team. Where I had to make the costumes, I purchased second hand curtains and the foundation fabric.
